This book is about a girl named Tally Youngblood. When you turn sixteen you get an operation to be turned into a pretty. Pretties have parties every day and the fun never stops, but before you turn sixteen you’re an Uglie. Tally’s friend Peris has just turned in to a pretty. Tally is having the operation in three months. One day she puts on a pig mask and goes to one of the pretties parties so she can see Peris. She found him and gets back to Uglieville. But she was almost caught. She met another Uglie named Shay. Shay and her become friends. Surprisingly Tally and Shay have the same birthday. They will turn pretties on the same day. But Shay doesn’t want to be turned pretty. Before the operation Shay tells Tally that she is running away to a place called the Smoke. Then Shay asked if Tally would come with her but she said she didn’t. Shay left instructions to the smoke if Tally changes her mind. The day of the operation came. A car picked her up and took her to the place. Then she went into a room called Special Circumstances. A doctor named Dr.Cable said there had been some run away. Uglies that didn’t what to be pretties. She said Tally could not be a pretty until she told her where Shay and the runaway are. This is a good description ……….
This book is very good. It will keep you wanting to read it until you are done. This is the first book in the series the next books are Pretties, Specials, and Extras.
