In the beggining of the fifth grade, they have races at recess and there is a girl named Leslie that comes to the races and all the guys say that she shouldnt race but Jesse the boy sticks up for Leslie and she races. Jesse only gets second because Leslie beet him. You’ll have to read the book to see what happens.
